Save Our Sports Event

With tough economic times, it is becoming more and more common to see schools cut back on their budgets due to lack of funding. School budget cuts are happening across the country from huge schools in Beverly Hills to small rural schools in Maine.  It is unfortunate that the first things to get cut are the fine arts and sports programs. This past Saturday, Airelle had the pleasure of helping out a small school just outside Napa Valley, California, at their fundraising event.

Last year, about $52,000.00 was cut from the middle school sports budget affecting their basketball, track, soccer, wrestling and volleyball teams. The budget cuts affected more than 380 students. Save our Sports partnered up with the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation to put on a Mardi Gras Cajun Boil to help raise money for the 2013/2014 middle school sports programs at both Adele Harrison and Altimira Middle Schools.

The event was a huge success! There was a great turn out and there were tons of donations for the silent auction. It was a fun evening of dancing, mingling, raffles, silent auctions, a dice bar and a fabulous dinner all to support a great cause. We love supporting local causes, especially children’s causes, and we are looking forward to their next event!
