Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts
It has been a little over two weeks since Hurricane Sandy made her devastating appearance on the East coast. Millions of families were affected by this superstorm and are now left to pick up the pieces and reassemble their lives. With temperatures dropping bellow freezing in the Northeast this past week, picking up those pieces becomes an even bigger challenge. There are still millions without out power, and with freezing temperatures this devastating scenario is quickly becoming worse.
This storm hit very close to home with the Airelle team, as all of us are from the New England area and have many friends and family who were stuck right in the middle of Sandy’s destruction. As we sit thousands of miles away in the warm California air, we look for a way to give back.
If you are like us and looking for a way to help the hurricane relief, there are many options. You can donate to the Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity and the United Way Regional Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund are just a few. If you are planning to travel this Thanksgiving think about flying American, US, Continental, Delta or United, all of whom are donating a portion of their sales to the relief efforts.
There are also many hotels around the country that are doing the same. The Marriott and Hilton are just few. One of our favorite hotels in Maine is also joining in the relief efforts. The White Barn Inn & Spa, located in Kennebunkport, will be donating a portion of their sales to help with the hurricane relief.
Hurricane Sandy’s impact was devastating to the East coast, and two weeks later millions are still without power, heat and water. As the cooler weather is rapidly approaching, the situation is only going to get worse. It doesn’t matter how big or small your donation is, just find a way to aid the relief efforts. What seems like a small and simple donation from you, can go along way with a family who is left without a home as winter is just around the corner.
